IBW was founded by Danila De Amicis, a professional interpreter and translator who relishes the challenge of dabbling in a diverse range of languages and cultures.
After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication, I took a Master’s Degree in Interpreting and Translation (UNINT University, Rome), which I graduated from withFirst Class Honours (110 & Lode).
In the course of my university education, I was awarded an Erasmus scholarship, thanks to which I studied at theUniversidad del País Vasco (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) and a Torno Subito scholarship, which led me to take part in the M Accelerator Start-Up and Entrepreneurship training course in Los Angeles, where I developed my project management skills with an international perspective.
Building on these experiences, I currently provide translation, interpreting and language consulting services in English and Italian (bilingual), Spanish and French.
Since 2013 as a translator and since 2016 as an interpreter, I have specialised in the following fields:
My multicultural background afforded me the chance to start my journey in learning about different cultures: this was my first step in the exciting world of interpreting and translation. My roots, that stretch from Italy to the United States and to Australia, endowed me with genuine and restless curiosity for foreign languages. Since my early childhood, this fondness has been leading me down that path of discovery and comprehension of Otherness which is a fundamental experience for those who wish to transform the language and cultural barriers that seem to divide us into a personal testimony of that unity in diversity which is symbolic of our multifaceted Humanity.
Interpreting (and translating) means being able to listen to yourself and those around you, to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, penetrating their way of thinking and speaking, and then returning to yourself to metabolise the content of their message and only then reflect it to the outside world, expressing it by changing its form (the language) but not its essence.
Interpreting (and translating) therefore means tearing down walls, crossing borders and building bridges to empower both sides. It means turning diversity into a source of prosperity.
